Dear Reader,
Winter is here! I hope you enjoyed all the Christmas Lights. I sure did. I can be a kid at heart, which is why my December Story Times were about Christmas Cookies. Maybe you have a few left at your house? I enjoyed the book Are You Grumpy Santa? Santa was having a bad day until some children left him a plate of cookies, milk, and a card. It reminds me that simple kindness goes a long way. Kindness also takes the grumpies away.
This month I will be reading about Winter. Let’s all embrace this season, We have so many good books about winter and things to be grateful for. Please join Jami and I at our virtual story times. Miss Jami can knit and read while she’s at home. Maybe we’ll all get scarves or knit potholders for Valentine’s Day. LOL.
~Ms. Robyn
Hello everyone!
I know I promised not to spam you with Phillip Russell pictures, but doesn’t he make the cutest little elf? Haha! I hope you’re enjoying your holidays and the festive season with your little ones. I am currently quarantining at home here in Shelby. I chose to go home to PA to see the family for Christmas and I’m now being responsible and staying at home. It’s definitely not my favorite thing to do, but we’re still trying to be extra safe here at MML. Hopefully by spring/summer everyone’s COVID numbers will have evened out and we won’t have to think and plan so hard for simple trips.
As we start the new year, we’ll be continuing our Story Times for Age 2-5 and Kindergarten-3rd GradeFamily NightsSpecial Events, and all of Ms. Robyn’s Story Times in the same way we have been this Fall. I know that we were all hoping that by now we’d be able to do things together, but since we can’t, we’ll continue to post videos and prep Take & Make Activity Bags for you to enjoy at home. I am hopeful that by Spring/Summer we’ll be able to do some outdoor activities. In the meantime, our January Special Event is centered on SNOWMEN! We’ll have snowmen stories and crafts. I tried really hard, but was ultimately unsuccessful, to figure out how to do our annual Children’s Craft Carnival in a drive-through fashion. I’m advertising our January activity as our First (and hopefully last) Children’s Snowman Party.
Now that we’re in January, Ms. Robyn and I will begin looking ahead to new ways to do Family Fort Night, LEGO Builders Contest, and IditaRead. We’ll also officially start planning for Summer Reading 2021. So, even though the winter months are looking a little extra bleak, there are good things on the horizon and we can’t wait to continue learning, growing, and playing with you!
Stay safe and warm and enjoy working your way through your winter reading list!
~Miss Jami
