Outreach
Overview
We’re always ready to serve our patrons, whether it’s in our building or out in the community. We offer a variety of Outreach Programs, participate in local events, and have partnerships with several other community groups.

Can’t go to the library due to illness, disability, surgery or lack of transportation?

Community Book Packs
We offer rotating book packs to doctors offices, funeral homes, nursing/care facilities, and other locations in Shelby. For more information or to begin receiving items for your location, call 419-347-5576 EXT 1 to speak with Amanda or email [email protected].
School Outreach
We provide outreach to local schools in several ways: classroom visits, library visits, and teacher packs.
Classroom Visits
Children’s Department staff visit preschool and elementary classrooms in the Shelby School District on a predetermined schedule. We bring stories, music, games, learning, and fun.
We also visit Shelby High School with library information and materials available for check out.
Not yet on the schedule and would like to talk about your options? Use this form to request a visit or call 419-347-5576 EXT 5.
Teacher Packs
Teachers are encouraged to use library materials in their classrooms. To make it easier, we can select, pull, and check out items so they’re ready for pick-up at the front desk or through our curbside service. Use this form or call 419-347-5576 EXT 5 to request items based on title, author, topic, or age group.
Community Events
You never know where you’ll see Marvin or his friends! We often participate in community events and can be seen at parades, farmers’ markets, events, activities, and festivals. Keep an eye on our calendar for specifics on where you can find us next!
Community Partnerships
The Little Buckeye Children’s Museum and The Shelby Foundation
The Little Buckeye Children’s Museum, The Shelby Foundation, and MML partnered to provide traveling children’s play exhibits. These exhibits bring the favorite parts of Little Buckeye and MML out into the community, debuting in the Children’s Department of MML. Rotating exhibits have included a pizza oven, vet’s clinic, dentist’s office, pediatrician’s office, trains and a farm.
